Date: 12th December 2018
Start: 7.30pm
Get in the Christmassy mood with this unique carol concert at Scorrier House. Step into the main hall at Scorrier – decorated and candlelit – and be taken on a journey through carols and medieval music with the Three Harps of Christmas.
Famed harpist Ruth Wall will play traditional carols on three harps: the concert harp, Gaelic wire strung harp and the Renaissance bray harp. Simultaneously, the award-winning composer Graham Fitkin will trace the history of the carols, and Ruth will perform these beautiful arrangements alongside medieval music and works by Piazzolla and Debussy.
The Christmas spirit does not stop there. In the interval guests will be invited into the drawing room for a complimentary glass of prosecco and mince pie (or alternative refreshments).
Ruth is well known as one of the UK’s leading harpists. She has toured to Japan, USA, Canada, Australia and throughout Europe and Scandinavia.
Recently she has worked with BBC Concert Orchestra, London Chamber Orchestra, Goldfrapp, Kathryn Tickell and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and has recorded for BBC serial ‘The White Queen‘ and Ben Wheatley’s film ‘Sightseers’.
